7 June 2025 marked the important date of the World Food Safety Day. The theme of this year ‘Food safety: science in action’ focuses on the importance of science and research for reducing illness, cutting costs and saving lives.
The aims of 23IND13 ScreenFood Project go in line with these important food safety targets, helping to develop analytical strategies and reference materials supporting food and food packaging industries in the provision of safe and sustainable products compliant to legislation. The project works closely with a metrological network able to provide, in collaboration with research centres and industries, innovative harmonised standards aimed at the detection and quantification of contaminants in food, with a focus on those possibly migrated from virgin and recycled food packaging materials.
The ScreenFood project consortium joined on this important day the communities worldwide in the joint research efforts for the prevention, detection and management of foodborne risks.
